Few know of the Malibu 400’s existence, and fewer have actually seen one. The Malibu 400 never showed up in any brochures or factory literature, only a single magazine ad mentioned its availability to the world.

Roughly 1,821 LS3-powered Chevy A-bodies were built for 1970. Break down those production numbers further, and you’re looking at an estimated 28 Malibu convertibles (10 with manual transmission, 18 with automatic). This car with its factory white bench seat interior, Tuxedo Black paint, instrumentation package, Posi-Traction 12 bolt differential and floor shifted Munci 4 speed may very well be the only one of its kind made, a very rare car indeed. The LS3-code V-8 is essentially the L35 396 from 1969 with a .030-overbore that brought it to 402 cubes, and five more horses, to 330.
