With an all-new design, a big-block V-8 with automatic transmission power team and full-size appointments, this 1965 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible combines muscle car performance and open-top motoring elegance. Chevrolet had something for everybody in the 1965 lineup with everything from full-size station wagon flagships to the compact rear-engine, air-cooled Corvairs on the showroom floor. Already at the top of the Chevrolet lineup, the Impala packs a 396 CI V-8 that was factory rated for 325 HP with a single 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust. L35 big-block power is channeled through a Powerglide automatic transmission with three-element torque converter and 2-speed planetary gears for jet-smooth shifts. Power steering and power brakes join all-coil-spring, unequal-length A-arm independent front and 4-link rear suspension for maximum road control. Four-across sealed beam headlights light the way forward, and two sets of triple grouped tail lights let other drivers know they just got smoked by a big-block Impala.

The long, low and wide Coke bottle-shaped body by Fisher wears Evening Orchid paint accented with bright wheelhouse moldings, Super Sport fender script emblems and a blackout rear cove panel with Impala SS badge. Stowing the boot cover and lowering the white convertible top reveals the Super Sport-spec all-vinyl interior with bright trimmed fold-down bucket seats, deep-twist black loop carpet, vinyl-and-carpet door panels, a padded dash, lighted glovebox, crank-operated ventipanes, courtesy lights and a center-shift console with a rally-style clock. Factory air conditioning with sliding controls delivers fingertip four-season cabin comfort, and an AM radio with an external antenna and rear-mount speakers receives and broadcasts authentic ’60s sound. The full-size ambassador of mid-’60s Chevrolet Super Sport power and prestige comes with the original build sheet and Protect-O-Plate, and it waits for its next driver to enjoy the ride on whitewall radial tires dressed with spinner full wheel covers.
