1962 Jaguar Opalescent Silver Blue 'Flat Floor' Coupe 3781 cc. / 265 HP
Flat Floor CoupeLegend has it that when it went on display for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961, none other than Enzo Ferrari remarked that the E-type (known as the “XKE” in the U.S.) was the most beautiful car he’d ever seen. Mr. Ferrari knew a pretty car when he saw one and he might have been one of the first to express the sentiment, but an incalculable number of others have said virtually the same thing and they’re still saying it fifty years later. Designed by a noted aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer, the E-type was meant to cheat the wind, but its glass covered headlights, long hood, short rear deck and compound curves also coincidentally looked great.
1962 Jaguar E-Type XKE coupe flat floor! Almost 30 years of continuous ownership by the prior owner!
Beautiful overall condition. The ultimate bragging rights for XKE owners is having a flat floor XKE. Most flat floor XKEs that you will see once in a while for sale are Roadsters but almost never do you see an XKE Flat Floor Coupe.
Now check out this XKE Flat Floor coupe, it will impress you with its beautiful running and cosmetic condition, now that is really, really rare! This car came off the assembly line in January 1962 as a flat floor, welded louvers and still has along with original round style Champion spark plug caps (though it now wears replicas, as only a couple of the original fragile survived). This car has the modified, 2-piece throttle shaft that Haddock dates to January of 1962. It retains the original engine and drive train, including generator(positive ground), original windshield wiper motor, fan motor (although an aftermarket fan is currently installed to help regulate the temperatures). It does have the original distributor. Its prior owner, owned the car almost 30 years with a light restoration completed in 2007. During restoration the colors were changed from opalescent dark blue with a silver blue interior to opalescent silver blue with a dark blue interior. The seat floor adjustment has been modified so that the seats move back two more inches.
The car runs, starts, and stops and drives as it should and of course has the original Moss gearbox. The car comes with an original high-quality scan of the original California pink slip and if you can believe it, a set of California black plates dated 1963. Please check out the pictures.
