The 1961 Impala was the beginning of the third generation Impala and as such was restyled. Probably the biggest design difference and one you’d readily see is that the 61 Impala’s had no tail fins. The 61 model did still remain on the GM B-Body and kept the 119.0 inch wheelbase. The new 61 Impala was a bit shorter model was noted for. It was those tail lights that differentiated the Impala from Chevy’s other full size models. In fact, the three taillight design became an Impala tradmark..For 1961, Chevrolet again restyled its full-size lineup with new brightwork revised nose and tail treatments and more to enhance the modern aesthetic. The Impala returned as the top-of-the-line model, offering and a broad spectrum of comfort, performance, style and technology in one package.  This 1961 Impala convertible reflects Chevrolet’s styling and marketing philosophy of the day very well, the red paint allowing the chrome and stainless to gleam and sparkle effortlessly while showing every curve, crease and nuance.

Powered by a 409 CI V-8 engine and a 4-speed manual transmission, it exhibits a muscular, racy, NASCAR edge, but an edge tempered with a lengthy roster of features and amenities that push it into the realm of 1960s luxury cars. The Impala coddles with a power-operated convertible top, windshield washers, AM radio, power steering and power brakes. The red interior is highlighted with textured and pleated seating surfaces, minimal white trim and aluminum elements that all contrast with striking presence against the red exterior, which is rounded out with twin sideview mirrors, dual antennas, front and rear bumper guards, chrome spinner hubcaps and whitewall tires.
