For 1956 the top of the line Oldsmobile 98 series rode on a 126 in wheelbase, 4.0 inches longer than the 88. The 98 was powered by a 240 horsepower Rocket V8 that it shared with the Super 88. For 1956 the parking brake was now a foot pedal and the standard tire size was 8.00 x 15 inches made by Goodrich, Firestone or U.S. Royal. The Upholstery options were leather and pattern cloth in a variety of colors and combinations. The standard options list remained the same and included Jetaway Hydramatic Drive, front fender medallions, deck lid ’98’ script and back-up light moldings.

Nearly every luxury or optional item available was offered with the 98. Standard options included power steering, power brakes, six-way power-adjustable seats, power windows, Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, special wheel discs, dash clock, windshield washers, padded dash, and courtesy and map light.

The two-tone Dark Green and Light Green paint conveys a dramatic elegance that you want from an Oldsmobile. And the way the trim line carves through the door line, and shows a separation for these high contrast colors really gives this the look of an upper-class classic. More of this classic style is seen on the brightwork, like the jet-inspired hood ornament, Oldsmobile globe logos, and the front chrome bumper that fits the contours of the car while showing off the grille. This one sure has a great sense of original-style chic, right down to details, like the wheel covers, badging, and fender skirts.

The top-of-the-line Oldsmobile series continued on its exclusive four-inch longer wheelbase. Power came from a 240 horsepower Rocket V-8 shared with Super 88 models. Standard equipment included all items found on the lower series cars plus backup lamp moldings, electric clock, Jetaway HydraMatic drive, padded dash, courtesy lights, power steering, windshield washers, and DeLuxe steering wheel. Upholstery choices were pattern cloth and leather in a variety of colors and combinations.
